Stephen Craig Anderson is an American artist based in Santa Ana, California. He approaches his art through a sobering, sometimes confessional reflection of human life, often alluding to the pressures of systemic societal and gender constructs and its boundless influence on our everyday interactions, decisions, and views. This recurring theme in his art pushes the audience to reflect on their own values and identity and personally confront the deeper psychosociological questions of humanity and well-being. Using an array of materials from found images, to wood, to the writings of the most influential philosophers, he hand-constructs three-dimensional wooden mixed media sculptures that are rooted in the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual aspects of the human experience.
